Fernie Ford co-hosted another Drive One 4 UR Community event with the Fernie Ghostriders to raise money for scholarships for Fernie’s Junior B hockey team. The event was held at Fernie Memorial Arena on Saturday, October 3 between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. The goal was to raise funds for the Player Education Scholarship Fund.
This charity event is a program of Ford where people can test drive new Ford models with no obligation. For every test drive, Fernie Ford and Ford Canada donates $20 to the scholarship. The money goes to graduating players to use in their post-secondary goals. In previous years, the event has garnered up to $6,000. The program began in 2010 for communities and schools. Over 50,000 people have participated with a test drive to donate to a local school or organization. In addition to providing test drives, the Ghostriders barbecued to raise even more money for the event. Teck Coal provided the barbecue supplies to help a worthy cause.
As the second Drive One 4 UR Community event for Fernie Ford this year, the community support has been strong. Besides helping a worthy cause, participants enjoy the opportunity to check out the latest Ford models with the newest features.
