Ford Explorer – No Key Fob Detected Error and Fix

In this video featuring a  2018 Ford Explorer, Brandon is demonstrating what happens if your key fob battery dies.

In a 2018 Ford Explorer and we have our key fob you want to check to see if the key fob works by trying to start the vehicle.  With the key fob inside the vehicle, put your foot on the brake, push the start button. If the vehicle starts, the key fob is working.

But, what happens if the Ford Explorer key fob battery dies? How do you start the vehicle? What do you do? Well, today we’re going to be answering that question.

Remove the key from the holder, as demonstrated in the video.  Separate the two pieces of plastic which hold the fob together. They simply pop apart with a little pull, exposing the battery which you will then need to remove.

Inside the centre console at the very front is a little holder for your key. Insert your key, put your foot on the brake and press the start button on your dashboard. Your Explorer should now start.

So, that is how you start your vehicle if your key fob ever dies in a 2018 Ford Explorer if you have any other questions, give us a call at (250) 423-9211, thank you!
